Volume 01 Issue 01 2003
Welcome to the premiere issue of Workspace—a
magazine designed to enhance your life at work.
Our goal is simple: to help make your day at work less stressful, more
productive and most importantly, personally rewarding. By providing
you with innovative approaches to tackling the tasks at hand, we help
to ensure that you still have the time, energy and ideas to live your life
outside the office. It’s really not as difficult as it may seem.

Volume 01 Issue 02 2004
You’re calm, you’re in control, you feel as if you can take on the world.
You’ve got your day planned perfectly and methodically down to the
second. You’re going to check off every last item on today’s “To-Do” List
and still
get to the gym…then buzzzzzzzzzz your alarm clock goes off, your day starts in
earnest and so much for plans and perfection—this is real life! Too much to do,
too little time—demands at home, responsibilities at work and it’s all important.

We all know that home is where the heart is. But try this one....
“Work is where...where what?” Not as easy is it? If you’re having a particularly stressful
day, wait to answer the question. In this age of WiFi, cell phones, conference calls, laptops, and the
BlackBerry®
work is quite simply everywhere. Unless this is your second week in the workforce, this
isn’t news to you. It has become easier, more accepted, and in many
cases, even expected, that we’re able to work anywhere at anytime. You can’t
help but admire the work ethic that has made this trend possible, but it’s not
always as simple as being able to plug in or log on. Ideally, you have to be able
to get something done too.

Fall/Winter 05
Makeover frenzy — the phenomenon’s unavoidable and there’s
nothing we haven’t seen “overhauled,” “extremed,” “traded,”
redone, reworked or renovated. Homes are rebuilt in an afternoon, whole towns in a week.
Faces, fenders and families are spiffed up, given a fresh coat of paint, and made better
than new. If you’re anything like me (admit
it, you are), you watch with a mixture of voyeurism and envy. We’re wistful for not
having such fortune bestowed upon us, yet smugly superior that we are
resourceful and resolute enough to fix whatever needs fixing in our lives without
the help of a team of designers, architects, hairdressers and life coaches.

Spring 06
For better or worse, rarely do we work with a specific theme in mind as
we put this magazine together. We always try to remain true to our
mission of helping you “work easier and live easier”, but that’s the
extent of any attempt to tie our articles together with a neat thematic bow. Yet
with each issue, when we look at the almost finished work, there’s some
common thread running through the articles — and somehow a theme emerges
— whether by happy accident or a stunning example of group-think. The
common thread in this issue is the notion of “taking charge” — grabbing
a
situation, project or issue by the horns and controlling it, sometimes with
tact, sometimes with energy, sometimes with nothing more than the power
of information.
